ADIDAS - Campuses are still too padded and the highs are cut super wierd. Dennis's shoe came out of nowhere but I'm glad to see a soccer-style pro model.
ADIO - Kenny Highs are Campus Highs. Adio has re-invented themselves as a vulcanized version of what they were in the early 2000's where every one of there shoes looked exactly the same. Except now they're even less interesting and now most of them don't have the A on the side. Case-and-point skate shoe company that has never done anything right.
CIRCA - Havent made a half-decent shoe since Appleyard left. An expected batch of shit, this company hasn't done anything right in years and probably never will again.
CONVERSE - The CTS mid is cut at a really nice level and all they need to do is take the circle logo thing off the side and they've got a nearly perfect shoe. Even with the patch it's a best-seller. Pro Leather 2's are better looking than 1's and I'm glad they added the CTS tongue, I haven't been this excited to skate a shoe since Harbors. Reveres look good in that color and better as a mid. Cons is still the most promising thing in skateboarding.
DC - Pretty much what we've come to expect from them, although there are less huge DC logos than usual. Hyped for Kalis X Jeru, although the shoe is no good I'm excited to see that collabo.
DEKLINE - Jason Lee!!! Dekline has never been head-turning but now they've abandoned all of their own style (the two stripes on the side). Vulcanizing everything was whatever, but now that every company is stripping their uppers bare how can we still care about skate shoes? They're all becoming the same thing.
DUFFS - Worst comeback of all time, and of course without the swooping side logo! Doomed to hideous anonymity. Please go out of business and leave us alone.
DVS - The fat tongue and the vulcanized sole both throw off Huf's shoe, I would have prefered a straight up Huf 3 Mid retro but these are still pretty sick, I like the colorway. Jeron's shoe looks suprisingly good and the colorway is really clean. Better than I expected.
ELEMENT - Element is as much a shoe company as World Industries. If I was Darrell Stanton I wouldn't have let them give me a shoe.
EMERICA - Usually a gold spot amongst shitty sneaker releases, Emerica sucks this time around with all-time worsts from three of their biggest names. Heath may have been re-discovered after Mind Field but his new (vulc) shoe is his worst yet, and Leo's new shoe to his OG shoe reminds me of the relation of the Manchester 2 to the OG Manchester: they poofed it up and threw an ill-advised toecap on it. Awful. And Andrew Reynolds' new Era probably should have come out about two years ago when that bullshit was still the cool.
ES - The usual: two identical shoes, one a stupidly-named pro model, that conform to current trends and look like shit. And a stuck-in-1999 teched out shit shoe with nothing going for it. They've been one of the worst shoe companies in the game for the last five years and really shouldn't be producing any shoes aside from Accell TTs.
ETNIES - Random pro models and no Etnies logos, skate shoe companies really are a dime a dozen. Raps look better high-top and cupsole.
GLOBE - Black Supreme Lows (now vulcanized!) and skytops make Globe a bonafide biter company and their other offering is a shitty version of a previously-cupsoled classic. Big huge failure.
GRAVIS - The same weird looking half-era/half-106 style shoe we've seen before, but three times? Its weird that people are starting to take Gravis seriously when their shit looks worse than ever before.
I-PATH - Grasshopper classics are one of the best looking shoes in this whole preview, it's just a shame they have to be called "Classics" now since the OG design got so trashed over the last few vulcanized, thinned down years. They had one of the best shoes ever in the Grasshopper and this colorway gets me really hyped. Bob's shoe is also classic I-Path styling, very reassuring. The other is just a logoless vulcanized piece of generic shit that could have just as easily been made by ANY other company. But overall, I'm pleasantly suprised.
OSIRIS - Bronx "slims" don't look any slimmer than their fat older brother. Osiris will never be anything but horrible.
VANS - Whenever Vans deviates from their classics they do it wrong. Dollin and Cardiel both prove that you can make the same shoe over and over but just change the 3 to a 4, the 4 to a 5 etc. with only ever designing one pro model. Colors get worse every season too, and Cab highs just look silly.
Overall, this makes it obvious that Adio, Circa, DC, Dekline, Duffs, DVS, Element, Emerica, Es, Etnies, Globe, Gravis, I-Path and Osiris are all making the exact same shoes. It's a shame that the most original looking "skate" shoes in this whole preview are Converse and Adidas, which aren't even skate companies. Every shoe from every company is just a super-basic vulcanized shoe with no logo on the side, so you can't even tell the boring shoes apart from each other now. Biggest losers overall here are Adio, Circa, Duffs, Es, Globe, and Osiris. Only things I'm excited for are Busenitz's shoe, all the Cons, Huf throwbacks and Grasshopper classics. Non-skate shoes and retroes of early 2000's skate classics. Skate shoes in general are earning a solid C- right now

What the fuck happened to originality in skate shoes?
Everything looks exactly the same.
Fuck all this vulc, half cab, sk8 low knock off bullshit.
I even talked shit to Leo for making a shitty second shoe.
Skaters just don't give a fuck about shoes anymore and its pretty sad.
Theres so much potential going to waste.
Even though I can't stand Brian Wenning, hopefully Axion starts bringing back shoes that don't look like this crap.
I need something different and innovative.

My Cousin:"Dude why in the fuck would you buy used shoes?!"
Me:"Man not every girl you fuck is going to be a virgin."
